| KAW-101 Beginner’s Knitting Saturdays: 11:30 – 1:30 p.m. $120.00 (four consecutive sessions, no make-up sessions) □ March 6, 13, 20, 27 □ April 3, 10, 17, 24 □ May 1, 8, 15, 22 □ June 5, 12, 19, 26 Learn the Continental or American knitting method of your choice. Left handed are welcome. Learn the basics of knitting: casting on, the knit and purl stitches, binding off, add a new color and gauge. Practice 7 different patterns, make a first scarf project and learn how to decorate it with fringes, pom-poms, tassels. Recommended Text: Stitch ‘N Bitch by Debbie Stoller KAW-103 Intermediate Knitting Saturdays: 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. $130.00 (four consecutive sessions, no make-up sessions) □ March 6, 13, 20, 27 □ April 3, 10, 17, 24 □ May 1, 8, 15, 22 □ June 5, 12, 19, 26 Learn to “give shape” to your knitting by increasing and decreasing; further build upon your basic knitting skills such as circular and double-pointed needle technique. Learn and practice lace, cable, chevron and more patterns. Make a hat as a class project. Recommended Text: Stitch ‘N Bitch by Debbie Stoller KAW-104 Learn to Knit with Your Child Saturdays: 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. Adult: $120.00 Child: $110.00 (four consecutive sessions, no make-up sessions) □ March 6, 13, 20, 27 □ April 3, 10, 17, 24 □ May 1, 8, 15, 22 □ June 5, 12, 19, 26 It is fun to learn together with your child different techniques, such as cast on, knit and purl stitches, bind off, gauge, understand a stitch pattern. Make a scarf of your own choice. KAW-204 Finishing Techniques (by appointment only) Sundays: 12:30 – 2:00 pm $50.00 per session □ March 21 or 28 □ April 4 or 11 □ May 16 or 23 □ June 20 or 27 Are you finished knitting your project and scared to finish it? If so, this class is for you! You will learn how to put all pieces together to perfection, different methods of seaming, how to join a shoulder with a 3-needle bind off or how to weave stitches fast and easy, so your shoulders look as if they have been knitted together. You will learn different methods of buttonholes, a few other “fun” finishing techniques and edges. You must bring a finished (as in all knitted) project or some swatches on which you can practice your new techniques. All participants must know how to knit and purl. Recommended Text: Stitch ‘N Bitch by Debbie Stoller; Knitting on the Edge by Nicky Epstein KAW-205 Pattern Reading (by appointment only) Sundays: 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. $25.00 per session □ March 21 or 28 □ April 4 or 11 □ May 16 or 23 □ June 20 or 27 In this class, you’ll learn how to read a pattern by taking one step at a time, learning abbreviations and deciphering a few basic things, as well as what is meant by gauge (and it’s importance), what materials are really necessary in order to finish your project and a few other simplified tricks. All participants must know how to knit and purl. Recommended Text: Stitch ‘N Bitch by Debbie Stoller KAW-220 Knitting with Colors Fridays: 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. $75.00 □ March 5 & 12 □ April 2 & 9 □ May 7 & 14 □ June 4 & 11 This class is an introduction to Intarsia, Fair Isle and Swiss Darning or duplicate stitch. You will learn the basics of each method as your knit samples. Learn to chart a motif, calculate yarn amounts and work with bobbins. You will also focus on knitting and finishing techniques used in each of the design methods. KAW-221 Knitting Socks (by appointment only) Thursdays: 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. $65.00 □ March 12 & 19 □ April 8 & 15 □ May 20 & 27 □ June 17 & 24 In this class you will learn how to use double pointed needles and take measurements for socks. Along the way you will learn the fine technique of shaping a heel and a toe top. By the end you will know how to finish the socks. Supplies: Sock or sport weight yarn, set of double pointed needles appropriate to yarn, scissors, stitch holder, yarn needle, pen. KAW-222 Knitting Flip-Flap Mittens Fridays: 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. $65.00 + $5.00 designer original pattern □ March 19 & 26 □ April 9 & 16 □ May 21 & 28 □ June 18 & 25 In this class you will learn how to use double pointed needles and take measurements for mittens. Along the way you will learn the fine technique of making the thumb and the fingers and shaping the top. By the end you will know how to finish the mittens. Supplies: Sock or sport weight yarn, set of double point needles appropriate to yarn, scissors, stitch holder, yarn needle, pen. KAW-209 Tatyana Mirer Knitting & Crochet Circle Wednesdays: 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. $20.00 Ongoing every Wednesday and Sunday. The circle is designed to have you work at your own pace on a project of your choice. Bring your project to the class, you’ll receive assistance and learn different techniques, such as pattern stitches, increasing and decreasing, repair a knitted fabric and more. Keep in mind that it is not a teaching class, but a guidance class. KAW-106 Zabeth Weiner Knitting Circle Mondays: 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. $20.00 Starting March 1 and ongoing every alternating Mondays: 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm Bring any project and/or question. Come and see why she is known nationally as the ‘sweater doctor’. Keep in mind that it is not a teaching class but a guidance class. |
